theVINE magazine was launched as a free publication in 2004 with the intention of targeting the BME (and wider) community in a more positive and meaningful way. Public information is also at the heart of theVINE and dissemination of this information is best achieved through well respected media publications. Consequently, huge support has been achieved from Councils, Primary Care trusts, Police, Fire Service, Probation Service, MOD, Colleges, Universities and more. They all promote through theVINE in order to hit a ‘hard to reach’ market.
Although our magazine is read by more females than males theVINE has no direct gender bias and appeals equally to all people, with a target age range of 20-45. Our readers come from ABC1 social gradings, and spans three generations of people who share a common desire. The VINE is a trusted source of information for many people both professionally and personally, and we believe that people in confident communities feel safe, interact, trust the services they receive and are confident about their future prosperity and opportunities. This means that our magazine gets circulated among readers, and we pride ourselves on the fact that one edition of theVINE will be read by up to 5 people.
The magazine has a well qualified list of contributors that include Ruth Taylor, Shirley Lloyd, Michael Barrows, Joy Roxborough, Joe Aldred, and Ammo Talwar. The collective experience of these writers spans many years and they are specialists in the fields that they write about. Our content is respected and trusted as a valuable source of information that will inspire, empower and educate.
At present we distribute our magazine through selected ASDA and TESCO supermarkets, churches, community organisations, independent retailers, hairdressers, libraries, museums, council offices, and through subscription. The strength of our free distribution is that we can be flexible as to where copies are delivered to. We are regularly asked to provide copies of the magazine to professional organisations holding conferences and seminars, where the magazine is handed out as part of the event literature pack.
We aim to increase our circulation to other areas of the BME community around the UK. As a free magazine our readers regularly take copies for friends and family members located in many parts of the UK. We take this as a clear message that theVINE has the potential to become a key player in the way that information is circulated to the BME community through the media.
